What does this mean?
This error means that the service name displayed in the page title is not the same as that displayed on the page itself (for example in the header).
This assumes that the page title is using the published HMRC page title pattern.
Impact on users
If we are inconsistent in our naming of things this can cause confusion or a drop in user trust.
The title of the page (contained within the title attribute) is the first thing a screen-reader user hears when a page loads, so it is important that it conveys the information the user needs to be sure they are on the right page on the right site.
How to fix
First check the page title and check you are presenting it as laid out in the HMRC pattern:
Page Heading - Service Name - GOV.UK
or
Page Heading - Section - Service Name - GOV.UK
Then check you are using the same wording for your service name in both the page title and in the page header.
Known issues
Some services which use hyphens in their service name may trigger this error as a false positive.
